I really feel that the asp.net is one of the most important software being developed by the Microsoft. One thing is for sure that you are not going to use the java for developing the simple websites. ASP.NET comes to your rescue in this case. You must have heard about the classic ASP. One thing which was really missing from the classic asp was that if you have filled the half form and suddenly the server goes out then what will you does?

It is really quiet sad that you will have to fill the whole form once again. This is really a drawback. For this reason the view state is used. This really differentiates the asp.net with the asp.
However I am not here to talk about the view state. I am here to really explain the simple concept behind the coding related to the asp.net.

You will have to in general follow the following steps for the coding. They are as follows:

1.The first step is to open the new website from the file menu.

2.A new website will be opened.

3.You then will have to select the programming language. For example select the vb.net.

4.The next step is to start the coding.

5.In this example I am not going to use any database. Hence it is not really required to create the connection string.

6.Just think of some code for your project.

7.Copy the asp code in the default.aspx file in the server explorer. Note that you will have to install one server and it would be better if you select the IIS at first. Save the code in a file and inside the server.

8.Your next step is to code the properties being used in the solution explorer. Your language will be the vb.net.

9.Your next step will be to debug the project. The website will open in the internet browser.

10.You can copy the url and run it whenever required.

In this way you can make your own web site.

An important fundamental of transactions are the four properties that they must exhibit:

1.Atomicity.
The whole transaction occurs or nothing in the transaction occurs; there is no in between. In SQL, the changes become permanent when a COMMIT statement is issued, and they are aborted when a ROLLBACK statement is issued. For example, the transfer of funds between two accounts is a transaction. If we transfer $20 from account A to account B, then at the end of the transaction A’s balance will be $20 lower and B’s balance will be $20 higher (if the transaction is completed) or neither balance will have changed (if the transaction is aborted).

2.Consistency.
When the transaction starts the entities are in a consistent state, and when the transaction ends the entities are once again in a consistent, albeit different, state. The implication is that the referential integrity rules and applicable business rules still apply after the transaction is completed.

3.Isolation.
All transactions work as if they alone were operating on the entities. For example, assume that a bank account contains $200 and each of us is trying to withdraw $50. Regardless of the order of the two transactions, at the end of them the account balance will be $100, assuming that both transactions work. This is true even if both transactions occur simultaneously. Without the isolation property two simultaneous withdrawals of $50 could result in a balance of $150 (both transactions saw a balance of $200 at the same time, so both wrote a new balance of $150). Isolation is often referred to as serializability.

4.Durability.
The entities are stored in a persistent media, such as a relational database or file, so that if the system crashes the transactions are still permanent.

I do feel that for any database expert the acid property is really very important and no body out of them can really survive without these properties.

Information technology is one of the hottest topics at present. The word information technology was given by Jim Dom sic in the year 1982. He found the data processing to be out dated and hence coined this computer field as information technology. According to information technology association of America( IIAA) the information technology is the study, design, implementation, support and management of computer based information system particularly computer software and computer hardware.

In fact information technology is a very vast topic. You will definitely find that almost all the computer application can be summed up under information technology. Somebody says that when computer and communication technology combines then information technology takes birth. Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to store, manipulate, communicate and produce information.

In few words there are four words with the help of which you can define information technology. They are:

1.Storage
2.Retrieval
3.Manipulation
4.Communication.

These are the four words which defines the term information technology. However you cannot say that that it is too little to learn. In fact it is really very big field and if you will clearly understand the above four points then you will come to understand how big this topic is. It is really a very big issue and you will find out very soon that why this field is leading the world at present.

As far as storage is concerned, all the information systems come under it. Apart from information system you can also add the storage technique. I have used the word information system because you will find out that they are also a sort of data storage software. However they can be called complete information technology software. You will find out that they are related to all the four keywords which in combination form the field information technology. You must have come across hard disk and other types of storage media either it is primary storage media or secondary storage media. However at present I do not want to talk about the storage media. I must tell you that storage media is a very small part of IT. And still you can understand how vast topic it is.

I must say that whatever software implementation you are talking about, comes under information technology. Hence just want to say one thing and that is, you cannot really neglect information technology no matter what you are talking about.

What is the demand of new generation? This is really a question in every bodies mind. I must say that you will find really lots of different reasons for this. The world is seeing a change. You will definitely find many reasons for feeling proud if you belong to the new generation. You can then think of enjoying the fruit which will be growing in the coming future. The term information technology is not so old, in fact not much older than the early 1980′s.

It was Domsic who really brought about a change in the terminology. He was the one who really laid the foundation for something great. He had an idea that this will really turn out to be great, but I must tell you that he never thought it to be so great which it is really turning out to be.

The new age will be known as information age. You will definitely find it a great experience while you pass this new era. You could remember the millennium bug, but you will definitely not required to remember more since now you can surf everything related to past in just a few second. You will definitely find the various search engines to be great tool to deal with information. Whenever you are accessing a search engine you are accessing an information system. However when you talk about different company, it is then only when you come to hear about the information system because it is then only when the security becomes an issue.

What I really want to say is the fact that you will definitely have used the information system once you get in touch with the internet. You must have used various search technique as well. Nothing is new for you. The only thing which is to be kept in mind is that you all are front end users.
You might be the part of frontend but you can also be the part of backend. You will definitely enjoy that position as well. However you are never bounded. What I really want to emphasize is the fact that you are involved in information technology boom in some way or the other. Hence you should really not feel that IT is something new.

You must make it in your mind that we have been involved with the subject for at least fifty years. However we have seen it taking its shape only after what Domsic did.

Software testing is one of the things which I do feel that you will definitely like to know in advance before going deep in any kind of software studies. Hence I would definitely like to put forward some of the types of software tastings which are commonly practiced in the field of software engineering.
Few examples of software testing are as follows:

1.ACCEPTANCE TESTING. Testing to verify a product meets customer specified requirements. A customer usually does this type of testing on a product that is developed externally.

2.BLACK BOX TESTING. Testing without knowledge of the internal workings of the item being tested. Tests are usually functional.

3.COMPATIBILITY TESTING. Testing to ensure compatibility of an application or Web site with different browsers, OSs, and hardware platforms. Compatibility testing can be performed manually or can be driven by an automated functional or regression test suite.

4.CONFORMANCE TESTING. Verifying implementation conformance to industry standards. Producing tests for the behavior of an implementation to be sure it provides the portability, interoperability, and/or compatibility a standard defines.

5.FUNCTIONAL TESTING. Validating an application or Web site conforms to its specifications and correctly performs all its required functions. This entails a series of tests which perform a feature by feature validation of behavior, using a wide range of normal and erroneous input data. This can involve testing of the product’s user interface, APIs, database management, security, installation, networking; etc testing can be performed on an automated or manual basis using black box or white box methodologies.

6.INTEGRATION TESTING. Testing in which modules are combined and tested as a group. Modules are typically code modules, individual applications, client and server applications on a network, etc. Integration Testing follows unit testing and precedes system testing.

7.LOAD TESTING. Load testing is a generic term covering Performance Testing and Stress Testing.

8.PERFORMANCE TESTING. Performance testing can be applied to understand your application or WWW site’s scalability, or to benchmark the performance in an environment of third party products such as servers and middleware for potential purchase. This sort of testing is particularly useful to identify performance bottlenecks in high use applications. Performance testing generally involves an automated test suite as this allows easy simulation of a variety of normal, peak, and exceptional load conditions.

9.REGRESSION TESTING. Similar in scope to a functional test, a regression test allows a consistent, repeatable validation of each new release of a product or Web site. Such testing ensures reported product defects have been corrected for each new release and that no new quality problems were introduced in the maintenance process. Though regression testing can be performed manually an automated test suite is often used to reduce the time and resources needed to perform the required testing.

10.SMOKE TESTING. A quick-and-dirty test that the major functions of a piece of software work without bothering with finer details. Originated in the hardware testing practice of turning on a new piece of hardware for the first time and considering it a success if it does not catch on fire.

11.STRESS TESTING. Testing conducted to evaluate a system or component at or beyond the limits of its specified requirements to determine the load under which it fails and how. A graceful degradation under load leading to non-catastrophic failure is the desired result. Often Stress Testing is performed using the same process as Performance Testing but employing a very high level of simulated load.

12.SYSTEM TESTING. Testing conducted on a complete, integrated system to evaluate the system’s compliance with its specified requirements. System testing falls within the scope of black box testing, and as such, should require no knowledge of the inner design of the code or logic.

13.UNIT TESTING. Functional and reliability testing in an Engineering environment. Producing tests for the behavior of components of a product to ensure their correct behavior prior to system integration.

14.WHITE BOX TESTING. Testing based on an analysis of internal workings and structure of a piece of software. Includes techniques such as Branch Testing and Path Testing. Also known as Structural Testing and Glass Box Testing.

I do feel that you will definitely find all these kind of testing to be really very useful when you will try to develop your own software.
